Space Giraffe looks kind of familiar

A video has popped up on Gamevideos.com showing off Jeff Minter’s pet project Space Giraffe. Jeff Minter, for those who don’t know, is the guy who created Tempest 2000 all those years ago and designs all those funky visuals that play in Windows Media Player and the Xbox 360 when a cd is playing. Now he seems to have melded his two loves into one…interesting…concoction. When I was watching this video a friend of mine came up next to me and watched on, "Dude, I have no idea what’s going on," he said. "Quiet, you," said I, convinced that he was making some stupid cliche stoner joke. "No, seriously. I have no idea what’s going on, what the hell is happening?" He replied. "Come to think of it…I don’t have any idea either." And I still don’t. What I do know is that remaking a classic formula with trippy visuals may have worked well for Geometry Wars, but as was proven with Boom Boom Rocket, it’s not always a smashing success.
