Obsidian working on South Park RPG

South Park: The Game

After working on games like Alpha Protocol and Fallout: New Vegas, developer Obsidian Entertainment has decided to do a complete 180 and set its sights on South Park.

Game Informer has revealed that the cover story for its January issue is an upcoming South Park RPG from Obsidian, in collaboration with THQ. Titled South Park: The Game, it will let players control the new kid in South Park as he meets the town’s colorful cast of characters and fends off evil threats.

Series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will be heavily involved with the project, writing the script and performing dialogue.

South Park: The Game is set to come out in 2012 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. More details will be known when the next Game Informer issue arrives in mailboxes next week.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
