Gearbox Software heading to the Borderlands

gearboxsoftwareThis press release reveals Borderlands, an upcoming sci-fi action game from developer Gearbox Software (Brothers in Arms) and publisher 2K Games.

The title is expected to be the first game in a planned franchise and will feature plenty of over-the-top character customization and co-op gameplay that we all love and crave.

Borderlands will feature new technology from Gearbox Software in the form of a content generation system, which should open up a whole variety of missions, vehicles, weapons and game situations. Also the game can be played in either co-op (hop in someone’s game to help out), or in single-player.

Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software, said, "Borderlands creates a universe of gameplay that goes far beyond anything anyone would expect. We’re tapping into every bit of Gearbox Software’s experience with the biggest science fiction video game franchises, then taking everything way past the next level."

Borderlands will be released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in holiday 2008. You’ll find two screenshots below for your viewing pleasure.
