Newly announced PC games – the post E3 edition: 5/13 to 5/19

StarcraftIIIt’s post E3 fever but announcements of new games and expansions are still hot so prepare yourselves for some juicy mentionables. First up and probably the biggest new game announced this week is StarCraft II from Blizzard Entertainment. (For more details, see related article on SCII.)

Two weeks ago, Crytek mentioned that they created a new developmental studio, Crytek Kiev, which will be working on a new game. This past week, Crytek announced a formation of another new studio named Crytek Budapest. While no new games have been announced, the new studio will "leverage their CryENGINE 2 technology and expand the number of gaming genres for which they are developing new products".

3000AD announced Galactic Command: Talon Elite, a new entry in their Galactic Command sci-fi/combat series. It’ll introduce a new system of pilots flying different fighters in deep enemy territory among other things. The game will be available either by the end of the year or early next year. A demo is planned around Christmas.

AOEIIIIn terms of expansion news, Microsoft announced Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties this week. This will mark the second expansion pack in Ensemble Studios’ Age of Empires III franchise and will introduce a new developer–Big Huge Games (Rise of Nations). Planned for this fall, the expansion will introduce new Asian civilizations, random map styles, 15 new Asian wonders and updates to the trading and winning systems.

Also the Strategic Command 2 website reveals the first expansion pack for the WWII RTS game. The expansion will be available online by the end of the summer and will include a bigger world map, new units, enhanced combat rules, more terrain types and resources another other features.
