GameStop Reports Inability to Fulfill PS3 Orders

Those who braved crowded lines in hopes of snagging a PS3 preorder ticket from GameStop may have something new to worry about come Friday. Gamespot is reporting that GameStop is now revising release numbers, which could spell disaster for those hoping to get their hands on a PS3 on release day.

Gamestop said it would not be able to fulfill all of the preorders for the PS3, citing a smaller-than-expected shipment from Sony. A representative from GameStop said, "We are beginning to notify our customers that our initial shipment of PS3 systems will not be what we expected. As this is not an ideal situation, we are asking employees to wait to purchase systems until the second shipment. We are anticipating having systems to cover reservations before Christmas."

Persons who originally were able to pick up preorder tickets will be notified by GameStop regarding the status of their order. And what if you are among the unfortunate that will be chopped from the list? You,ll get a refund of your $100 along with a free used game or DVD at a value of $19.99 or less when you finally do purchase a system from GameStop.
