Mass Effect 3 delayed until early 2012

Mass Effect 3

When BioWare and Electronic Arts announced Mass Effect 3‘s late 2011 release date while Mass Effect 2 was racking up game of the year awards, it seemed like a really quick turnaround. Now it looks like that was too good to be true.

Executive producer Casey Hudson revealed in a statement today that the development team has had to push the release date back to early 2012.

"Today we have confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012," he said. "The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations. We’ll have more details about specific dates as we get closer to release."

It’s unfortunate that fans will have to wait a bit longer to play the last installment in the Mass Effect trilogy. In the meantime BioWare has provided two new screenshots, which can be viewed below.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
