GOG to include indie games

GOG

Good Old Games (GOG) is known for its DRM-free distribution of PC classics, but now the site is looking to expand. According to a company press release, new indie titles will be added to its catalog in an effort to get “bigger, fresher, and newer.”

Trine, The Whispered World, and Legend of Grimock are the first three titles to help push this movement forward. Trine and The Whispered World can be purchased right now, while Legend of Grimock is available for pre-order.

GOG has partnered with numerous indie developers, so many more releases will be coming in the future. Darwinia, Spacechem, and Machinarium have already been added to the “coming soon” section.

The official website has also undergone a bit of an overhaul, with new features being added. They include a revamped community wishlist, a better-organized My Account page, and a new optional downloader. Fans of the site should head over now to take a look.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
