ParaWorld Expansion Planned; Developer Closing Doors

A post from German developer SEK Ost announced that a booster pack is in the works for its prehistoric/dinosaur RTS, ParaWorld, but was accompanied by a message stating that SEK Ost will be closing its doors. An official announcement is expected sometime next week.

One of the main reasons for the closure is the sales figure for ParaWorld–particularly low in both its native Germany and the United States. Follow-up posts on eXtremePlayers.de and 4players.de from members of SEK mention the booster pack will only be released if the publisher, Sunflowers, allows it. The pack will include three new maps, new heroes, new units, new buildings, and more.

"The Booster Pack, which we slightly hinted at in the last update, happens to be our final work on Paraworld. We consider it a ‘Good Bye’ gift. The ‘When’ and ‘How’ details of its release, however, are, like the support for Paraworld, ultimately in the hands of the publisher. And even if the mysterious legion of ninja monkeys goes under cover for now–we’d be surprised if Paraworld would forever be the only game to get their official seal of approval."

ParaWorld was released this past September, while developer SEK was initially formed when four friends joined together in 1998. Their first game, entitled Diggles: The Myth of Fenris, was cut short due to financial troubles with the game’s publisher in March 2001.
