Indie developer Combit Studios has recently announced that it will be partnering with River City Ransom EX developer Million to create “an official, worldwide follow-up to River City Ransom.” The game will be available for Windows in August 2014, according to the company’s official blog.

Combit’s project appears to be unrelated to the other official sequel for River City Ransom that was announced back in 2011. Originally slated to launch on WiiWare some time last year, River City Ransom 2 was discontinued indefinitely in favor of new projects, as cited by developer MiracleKidz in a blog post last year in October.

Further information will be released at a later date according to Combit.

“We are currently focused on an August 2014 release date for Windows, with additional platforms under consideration,” reads the statement. “Stay tuned for more details, artwork, team info, and the official website, all leading up to our crowd-funding launch this summer, where you’ll be able to join us as a backer to claim some truly unique rewards, and to help us bring you the next chapter that River City Ransom deserves!”

In the meantime, interested gamers can join the mailing list if they’d like to get the latest information on the River City Ransom sequel.
