Bioware co-founder: "Too many games today"

Ray Muzyka

If you’ve had a tough time keeping up with all the video game releases this year then you’re not alone. In an interview BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka revealed that he too finds the amount of games released today a little overwhelming.

"There are too many games released today," he stated. "It’s interesting, because it’s very, very busy – it makes it very hard as a player to keep up. The releases clump up – even though that is changing a little bit."

He also went on to explain how his position as a developer makes it especially hard.

"For us, we have to play our games, play competitor’s games, play other relevant games and play the handful of games we just really want to play more of and finish. I try and play two-or three hours a night, but that’s hard and it’s not enough."

With the holiday season in full effect this is more apparent than ever, and looking at the release schedule for early 2011 shows it won’t stop any time soon. At least gamers out there will be plenty busy in the coming months.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
