SEGA Nabs Alien Game Deal; RPG and FPS in 2008

SEGA today announced a deal with movie studio Twentieth Century Fox for new PC and console games based on the film action series Alien, making specific mention of a RPG and FPS, with the first game to be released in 2008. According to a follow-up reports, two studios are attached to the new IP ventures: Obsidian Entertainment and Gearbox Software. It is safe to assume that, if these studios are working on the Alien IPs, Obsidian will helm the RPG (the studio is responsible for Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2) while Gearbox will be handling the FPS (they backed the Brothers in Arms series and some Half-Life expansions).

This deal is separate from the Aliens versus Predator movie and game series. Talk with film stars Sigourney Weaver and Lance Henriksen are underway for participation in the games, which will not follow the plot of any Alien film.
