WoW: Burning Crusade Set for January 16

Two weeks ago, Blizzard announced a delay to World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade, the first expansion pack for their smash-hit MMORPG (story). Today, the release date has been solidified; January 16. In addition to this announcement, Blizzard mentioned that the subscription base for World of Warcraft has now reached 7.5 million players worldwide.

Mike Morhaime, President and Co-Founder of Blizzard Entertainment, says the expansion will be the largest addition of content to date, "While World of Warcraft has continued to grow rapidly along with its player population, The Burning Crusadewill represent our single largest addition of new game content and new features to date. With this expansion, we,re looking forward to offering the same level of quality that players have experienced in World of Warcraft so far, and we,ll continue balancing and play-testing up until launch to ensure that The Burning Crusade achieves that goal."

Rounding out the usual slew of additions include a raised level cap to 70, additional talents and spells, two new playable races (Blood Elves and Draeni), flying mounts, new jewel crafting profession, new items, PvP enhancements and the new region of Outland.
