Ezio officially confirmed for SoulCalibur V as game gets release date

Ezio Auditore in SoulCalibur V

Just four days after an image surfaced revealing that Ezio Auditore da Firenze, the protagonist of three Assassin’s Creed titles, will be the secret guest character for SoulCalibur V, Namco-Bandai and Project Soul released an announcement trailer confirming the rumor to be true.

The trailer begins with Nightmare destroying what appears to be Mitsurugi, before he is confronted by none other than the Italian assassin himself. Ezio then proceeds to kick the living daylights out of Soul Calibur characters with the use of his sword, hidden blade, and crossbow while “Venice Rooftops” from Assassin’s Creed II plays in the background to set the tone.

Namco-Bandai also revealed today that SoulCalibur V will be launching on January 31, 2012 in North America and February 3, 2012 in Europe.

Other announcements on the game today included the reveal of Dampierre from SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny as a pre-order bonus and the details on SoulCalibur V‘s special edition. The contents include a specially designed “book” box, high quality art book, original soundtrack CD, making of DVD, DLC code for the Black Knight and Paladin armor sets, original artwork, and a letter of reproduction signed by the team at Project Soul.
