EA's Skate officially dated

skateEA’s Tony Hawk killer, Skate, is rolling up fast. In a press release today, Electronic Arts announced that the Xbox 360 version would be shipping to U.S. retailers on September 12th, and European stores on the 14th. The Playstation 3 version will arrive on September 24th and October 5th in the two regions.

Additionally, a demo of the game will be available for download on Xbox Live Marketplace beginning August 15th. Eager skaters will get their first taste of EA’s Flickit controls in just under two weeks.

From the press release:

"In the game, everything you do works towards getting you coverage in two of skateboarding’s premiere magazines – Thrasher and The Skateboard Mag. Coverage also means sponsors, product, money and fame. Become a legend by getting the covers and you’ll earn a coveted invitation to skate in the X Games – the world’s top skateboarding competition. You’ll be able to throw down on the street course and go huge in the Skateboard Big Air event, innovated and dominated by two time gold medalist Danny Way."

It looks like the folks at EA are taking a different approach to the sport, so Skate will offer gamers new options to help them satisfy their extreme sports urges.
