Crysis Warhead ships Sept. 16th

Crysis WarheadElectronic Arts announced today that Crysis Warhead will be shipping to North American retailers on September 16th. European shops will be getting the game four days earlier, on the 12th. The game will carry a $29.95 price tag, but eager gamers can get a $5 discount by pre-ordering the sci-fi shooter at the EA Store.

Said Crytek President and CEO Cevat Yerli:

"We think Crysis Warhead is going to offer a tremendous experience to a wide range of gamers. Fans of Crysis are going to enjoy more of the open-ended gameplay, cutting-edge visuals and huge, epic battles from the first game, while also finally finding out what kind of havoc Psycho was wreaking on the other side of the island.

At the same time, we designed Warhead to be more accessible for gamers new to the Crysis franchise. It is a game with a story that can stand on its own, it has been optimized to run better on a wider range of PCs, and we are introducing Crysis Wars, a tailor-made experience for multiplayer gamers within the Crysis universe – all at a great value."

Crysis Wars will feature the new team-based gametype, TeamInstantAction, in addition to the returning InstantAction and PowerStruggle modes. Crysis Wars will offer a total of 21 maps to compete on, 7 of which are brand new (6 for InstantAction and TeamInstantAction; 1 for PowerStruggle).

The game will be rated "M" by the ESRB and "16+" by PEGI.
