Warhawk Dated and Priced

Warhawk News ImageSo how much should someone have to pay for a multiplayer only game? Twenty dollars? Maybe thirty? Unfortunately for fans, Sony is thinking higher. Recently revealed on the Playstation.Blog by Game Director of Warhawk, Dylan Jobe, the price of Warhawk will have two prices based on which version gamers want to purchase.

Warhawk will be available on the Playstation Network as a download for $39.99 while the retail version will come in at an $59.99 US. In addition to having a physical copy of the game, the retail version of Warhawk will also include added video content, a game manual, and a Jabra Bluetooth headset. The PSN Warhawk won’t include any of these extras.

The real question is if this price is too high. Forty to sixty dollars for an online only gaming experience does seem steep. Some could argue that past titles in the online genre, like Battlefield, retailed at this price. This is true, but even Battlefield offered an offline experience. It was shallow, confined, and not nearly as entertaining as online, but the option was still there.

The big plus Warhawk has going for it though, is the game is a blast to play. Reports from the beta say nothing but good things about the game, and if the servers are stable and the community managed then the high price tag may just be worth it.

So when will PlayStation 3 owners get a chance to officially take the controls of a Warhawk? August 28th, 2007. Just in time for college.
