Zipline Games gets former Microsoft Game Studios VP

Shane Kim

Zipline Games, the mobile developer behind the Moai platform, announced an important new addition to its staff earlier today.

Former Microsoft Game Studios VP Shane Kim will now be part of Zipline’s board of directors. He was in charge of Microsoft’s Xbox games development until 2009, where he managed projects such as Halo and Gears of War.

Todd Hooper, CEO of Zipline Games, expressed how valuable an addition Kim will be to his company’s team.

"Shane has very deep experience working with AAA development studios and a world-class online gaming service," he said. "Shane’s knowledge, advice and help will be invaluable as we enhance the Moai platform and partner with more and more game studios."

Crimson, the first project under Bungie Aerospace, is being developed on the Moai platform. Perhaps more mobile game developers will look to Moai now that Kim is working with Zipline Games.

My first experience playing a video game blew me away. The fact that Super Metroid was that game certainly helped. So I like to think Samus put me on the path to video games. Well, I guess my parents buying the SNES had a little something to do with it. Ever since then my passion for video games has grown. When I found that I could put words together into a coherent sentence, videogame journalism was a natural interest. Now I spend a large majority of my time either playing video games or writing about them, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
