PlayStation 2013 – Watch_Dogs a launch title for PS4, shows open world gameplay demo

Watch_Dogs

During Sony’s Playstation 2013 event Ubisoft was on hand to confirm that Watch_Dogs, first seen at E3 2012, will be a launch title for PlayStation 4 when the console arrives over the 2013 Holiday.

Watch_Dogs is an open-world action-adventure with a technological twist. Protagonist Aiden Pearce will be able to use his smartphone to hack into Chicago’s Central Operating System in order to manipulate his environment, as well as traverse it with some modest free running.  Trains, security cameras, and rows of bollards all fall under Aiden’s control. His smartphone even allows him to see a citizen’s probability of committing a crime – allowing Aiden to intervene before the crime has even happened.

If this all sounds a bit Orwellian, then I can only imagine that’s part of the point.

In addition to being a launch title for the PS4, Watch_Dogs will also release for the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and most likely Microsoft’s next generation console as well.

Check out the open-world gameplay demo and screens below!

The game is indeed a next-gen title.
