Bungie Disappoints With "Big" Announcement

Bungie Software, developers of the Halo franchise, teased and tweaked the imaginations of Halo 3 fans by making some rather enticing remarks on their website. They said that there "will be some pretty BIG surprises and maybe announcements."

Anyway you cut it; the statement was enough to cause the rumor mill to go into high gear as the Halo 3 hopefuls were speculating that H3 might go on Xbox Live as a demo or that the ship date would be finally announced. But after today,s announcement by Microsoft, it turns out that there was a lot of adrenaline rush for nothing. The official statement read, "The Xbox Live multiplayer public beta, which is a prerelease version of the multiplayer experience of Halo 3, is scheduled for availability in spring 2007 exclusively on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system."

Microsoft further added that there would be an ad launched on December 4 during ESPN Monday Night Football. "The ad…will provide viewers with a unique and compelling look at Master Chief and the world of Halo 3."

In spite of the let down concerning the “BIG surprises” hinted by Bungie, the possibility of more news about Halo 3 may still be in the works.
