EA Delays New Battlefield 2 Patch

If you are one of the many gamers anxiously waiting for the latest Battlefield 2 patch, you,ve still got some more time to wait out before it arrives. According to EA,s official BF2 community website, it was announced that the BF2 patch 1.2, although solving several problem areas of the game, has “introduced some more issues.” The site says: “Listen up Troops, Although patch 1.2 included several fixes that we know were eagerly awaited, it unfortunately introduced some new issues. These are being addressed immediately and we are working around the clock to resolve those. Patch 1.21 (coming soon) will be tested in a limited beta with select Battlefield community members starting as early as this week. We,re doing this to ensure a clean release of 1.21. In addition, we have decided to postpone the Euro Force Booster Pack until sometime after the release of the updated 1.21 patch.” The occurrence of new bugs cropping up in patches is not uncommon as code that is altered in one area of a patch may cause broken code in another area. In some cases, the addition of new code makes a game unstable and more prone to “crashes.” If new bugs are minor, the program is usually released but if they are more “fatal,” the programming team has their work cut out for them. The user base for BF2 is large and dedicated, and the previous 1.2 patch was, shall we say, not well received by many. The loud complaints of the patch must have registered with EA, as they are doing overtime in fixing the “issues.” They probably need to get this one right, as whole platoons of the BF2 faithful are likely to scale the walls of EA to capture those responsible for the last failed patch. Talk about pressure under fire.
