Molyneux says XBL more influential than Wiimote

In a recent interview conducted by Canaljuegos, role playing game developer Peter Molyneux shared his thoughts on Nintendo’s wildly successful Wii (well, the Wiimote in particular) and its significantly lesser impact on the industry than Microsoft’s robust online service, Xbox Live.

"Microsoft is an incredibly smart company and I never fail to be impressed by just how clever they are," said Molyneux. "Don’t forget this is the company which pioneered Live which I believe will ultimately be far more impactful on video games in the long term than something like the Wii controller."

Of course, no one is in the right position to determine whether or not Mr. Molyneux is right or wrong, but the whole thing is quite thought provocative.

Which of the two is most likely to provide a considerably more engaging gameplay experience: one containing innovative controls or another featuring unique online elements?
