Two of the videogame industry’s juggernaut series will release their latest installments in what should be the biggest release week of the year.
Arriving first on Tuesday will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the epic conclusion to Activision and Infinity Ward’s modern military shooter saga centered on a Russian terrorist madman who triggers World War III and the squad of elite, now fugitive, soldiers that try to stop him. There’s also the multiplayer, which has been the driving force in earning millions upon millions of sales for the series. Modern Warfare 3 will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Nintendo Wii.
Just three days later on Friday, players will then have the opportunity to enter a world of medieval fantasy and take on dragons in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the latest title in Bethesda Softwork’s classic RPG franchise. The mythical creatures have brought havoc upon the northernmost province of Tamriel and it is up to the player as Dovahkiin, literally translated to Dragonborn, to end the threat on the PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii.
For anyone who isn’t picking up the two big launches of the week, there are plenty more to potentially pique their interest. Included are Heavy Rain: Director’s Cut exclusively for the PS3 as well as a pair of multiplatform games in Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PS3, PSP, Xbox 360, and PC and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii.
