Capcom gets steamy

steamCapcom announced today they’ll be the first Japanese publisher to distribute games through Valve Software’s Steam broadband games delivery service.

The first Capcom game will be Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, which is set for release "later this week" and followed by Onimusha 3 "in a few weeks". Next — Lost Planet: Extreme Condition will arrive on June 26th and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will be released "later this year."

Mark Beaumont, Executive Vice President of Capcom, said, "Steam is the right place for us to go with our titles. Valve has created a huge installed base of gamers who naturally fit with the profiles of the titles that Capcom develops."

Capcom is just the latest publisher to sign onto Steam; they join the ranks with Eidos Interactive, Activision, 2K Games and PopCap. It must be good to be Valve.
