Namco Bandai Co-Developing Smash Bros Wii U And 3DS

During Japan’s Nintendo Direct presentation tonight, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced Namco Bandai will co-develop the next Super Smash Brothers games for Wii U and 3DS with Sora, headed by long-time Smash Bros. lead Masahiro Sakurai.

Yoshito Higuchi of the Tales series has been named as one of the lead Namco names on the project, along with Masaya Kobayashi.

The more I think about this, the more I have to wonder…is this being done so that the game can come out sooner? What does Nintendo gain from taking this approach? I hope that more hands in the Smash Bros cookie jar doesn’t mean the quality of the game goes down…

Oh well, I guess we can anticipate Mario vs Pac-Man on the Wii U and 3DS sometime soon!
