System Shock, Thief game designer joins Valve

Game designer Doug Church, who has done notable work on games like System Shock and Thief, has officially joined the ranks of Valve, officials confirmed today.

Church has been around the industry for more than twenty years. In that time, he’s worked for several companies including Eidos, Looking Glass Studios and EA.

His design work can be found in games like Deus Ex, Ultima and Tomb Raider: Legends. He even worked on Project LMNO with Steven Spielberg before it was canceled.

Valve’s Doug Lombardi confirmed the rumors and said Church had been working with the company for "a couple weeks."

Lombardi, however, could not say if Church was currently working on any projects for the Valve, which has produced such games as Half-Life 2 and the upcoming Portal 2.
