Rumor: GoldenEye 007 going to Wii VC

GoldenEye 007 is considered the best James Bond game in the series. The title was originally released for the N64 in 1997 and incorporated the idea of stealth missions and goal objectives into the FPS genre. GoldenEye 007 was highly acclaimed for its intriguing gameplay and production values. Now, ten years later, rumors are surfacing that the popular James Bond title maybe coming to Nintendo’s Virtual Console lineup of games. But as of now, nothing is set in stone, due to the complicated issue of who owns the rights to the game.

Seeing GoldenEye 007 isn’t impossible, but the chances of it going to the Wii may be slim. Rare, the original developers of the game, responded to the possible reemergence of the popular title on the VC by stating, "GoldenEye is caught up in a convoluted web of rights the likes of which would make the Weaver from Perdido Street Station (a sci-fi novel) jealous. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen, just that a lot of people with a lot of different perspectives are involved."

So for the time being, the answer of "maybe," is a lot better than a definite "no" for GoldenEye fans.
