Future Publishing sees profit boost

futurelogoWhile gaming magazines have been dwindling lately, the king of all gaming publications, Future Publishing, has been doing fairly well in the financial department.

Future Publishing released details of the company’s preliminary financial results for the year and they experienced a profit boost of £36.7 million ($75.8 million), which is up £9.2 million ($19.0 million) from last year.

Future owns several UK gaming magazines, including PC Gamer and Edge magazine. In addition, they maintain a dominating position in the U.S. magazine market with Future US, which publishes Official Xbox Magazine, Nintendo Power and Official PlayStation Magazine.

Stevie Spring, CEO of Future Publishing, said, "The progress we have made in 2007 is very encouraging and has created a much firmer platform for future growth. We did what we said we would do."

She maintains a firm outlook for 2008 by saying, "We enter 2008 with a much healthier business, a stronger balance sheet and a re-invigorated team. We know there is more to do, but we are embracing the challenge with conviction, courage and confidence that Future is back on track."
