ealogoEA reported their third quarter financial results today and the company experienced a net loss of $33 million over very strong revenues of over $1.5 billion during the quarter that ended on December 31st.

Strong sales of Need for Speed Pro Street (4.5 million copies sold), FIFA 08, The Simpsons Game (4 million copies sold), Madden NFL 08, skate. and Rock Band were all attributed to EA’s strong revenue earnings.

Regarding other game sales, EA revealed that Rock Band has now sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide. Two weeks ago, EA revealed that Rock Band has sold over 1 million units so there are quite a few aspiring rock stars out there.

Surprisingly, EA’s new skating franchise skate. outsold Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground despite the fact that skate. was only released on two platforms compared with Proving Ground’s five platforms release. While EA didn’t comment on skate’s game sales, Warren Jensen, CFO of EA, said, "Skate outsold Tony Hawk 2 to 1."

Lastly, it appears EA is still planning another Lord of the Rings game. The company canceled a LotR-related game back in February 2007 but ended up extending the game rights till this year a month later.
