CoH: Opposing Fronts gets released this month

companyofheroesRelic Entertainment hit a home-run with Company of Heroes last year and their eagerly anticipated follow-up, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, has been in the pile of games headed for the ‘fall 2007’ release date.

Today, THQ cleared some of the dust and announced that the standalone expansion has gone gold and will be released this month.

A concrete release date is still not known, but the rumored September 25th date looks to fit snuggly with the game’s revised date. Still, knowing that the game will be released this month is a nice breath of fresh air.

The official press release says:

"Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts is the next chapter in the critically acclaimed Company of Heroes franchise. Players take command of the German Panzer Elite as they struggle against the might of the Allied forces, or lead the British 2nd Army in the vicious battle for Caen, France. Internally developed by Relic Entertainment, this standalone title does not require the original Company of Heroes to play, features two unique armies with full length campaigns, new multiplayer options when combined with the original Company of Heroes, Microsoft DirectX 10 support, mission persistence, improved vehicle and soldier AI, enhanced physics and a dynamic weather system. Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts is fully compatible with the original Company of Heroes, allowing players to wage war with four unique armies."
