New batch of Wii games slated for summer

Are you one of the many Wii fans out there lamenting the fact that not enough Wii titles are out there for you to play? This is about to change drastically because Nintendo is in the process of developing 45 new games. So when are these games going to see the light of day? According to Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, they’ll be starting to show up by the end of summer.

Meanwhile, Iwata continued to assure that the drought of Wiis is being addressed and admitted that Nintendo caught off guard by the off-the-chart clamor for the machine. "We must do our best to fix this abnormal lack of stock. We have not been able to properly foresee demand."

Yesterday, Nintendo announced that it was ramping up Wii production. Since its launch in November, the shortages of Wiis have been widespread and commonplace. While Nintendo is apparently doing everything it can to catch up with customer requests, the situation was self-created — it underestimated the overwhelming positive reaction by the public.
