America's Army deploying to arcades

americas armyWhat better way to spend your quarters then on a fictional arcade shooter blasting away aliens based on the real U.S. Army! That’s right, the U.S. Army partnered up with GlobalVR to bring the popular free online shooter, America’s Army, to arcades. There’s no word on the release date as of writing.

The game will feature eight mini-games that recreate authentic Army training exercises, complete with a dynamic difficulty system, along with a drill sergeant to berate you during the process. In addition, the game will feature leader boards and rewards for players who follow the Rules of Engagement and utilize teamwork.

Jim DeRose, President and CEO of GlobalVR, stated, "We are so proud to be working directly with the U.S. Army on this project. To have earned the Army’s confidence throughout the game’s development and delivered a coin-op game that fits the market needs of most video equipment operators is a huge accomplishment."
