DX10 bails out on Supreme Commander

supcom2In a post found on the Gas Powered Forums, it was revealed that DirectX10 support for Supreme Commander has been dropped. With the impending release of the next patch (this Wednesday), players were wondering about the status of DX10 support.

GPG poster ‘SonofShagrat’ cleared the air by saying, "The opportunity to integrate DX10 came along very late in the development process for Supreme Commander… the timing simply did not line up. The availability of DX10 hardware, final releases of Vista itself, and the solid drivers simply did not line up with the necessary time frames in our development cycle."

GPG is still planning to release continual graphical improvements with future patches. The bottom line is that DX10 won’t be coming to SupCom or its expansions. Instead, they’re planning DX10 for future projects. For more info about SupCom, check out our review.
